In this first Unit, we will have the opportunity to review some concepts from Spanish I before we get into our new topic. We can start reviewing the verb gustar with nouns. After we go back a little, we can start working on our new vocabulary words about 'La Salud' (The Health) and learning about the verbs doler, preterite of -ar verbs, preterite of -car, -gar, -zar verbs. In this Unit, we will learn to talk about parts of the body, make excuses, say what you did, and talk about staying healthy. Gustar with infinitives
Activating Prior Knowledge1. An infinitive tells the verb's meaning without naming any subject or tense. There are three kinds of infinitives in Spanish: those ending in -ar, ending in -er, and those ending in -ir.
-ar infinitives -er infinitives -ir infinitives
Example: cantar to sing comer to eat escribir to write
2. Just like nouns, infinitives can be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do.
3. Always use gusta (not gustan) with infinitives.
Me gustan los deportes. Me gusta jugar al tenis.
I like sports. I like to play tennis.
In English, infinitives do not have any special endings, but they almost always have the word 'to' in front of them. Example: to play to run to write
In Spanish, infinitives always end in -ar, -er, or -ir.
Example: jugar correr escribir

In the following sentence, find the infinitive.
¿Qué te gusta hacer?
What do you like to do?
Could you see it?
Let's see, in the verb hacer, the infinitive is er. I hope you saw it right away.
