Telehistoria escena 2
Goal: Pay attention to the irregular verbs that Manuel, his family, and his friends use to discuss what to do at his party. Then, use them to discuss what you and others do at parties.
STRATEGIES
Predict based on visuals. Predict what might happen based on the photos. Does Manuel get the T-shirt signed? Was Manuel surprised, or did he know about the party?
Manuel arrives home with Alicia’s T-shirt, admiring the autograph.
Manuel: ¡El autógrafo de Trini Salgado!
Elena: (in the backyard) ¡Allí viene Manuel!
Manuel enters the yard.
Todos : ¡Sorpresa!
Sra. Cuevas: ¡Feliz cumpleaños, hijo!
Elena: ¡Aquí viene el pastel!
Manuel blows out the candles while people clap.
Manuel: Y, ¿qué hago ahora?
Fernando: ¡Abrir los regalos! Yo los traigo.
Manuel: (opening a gift) ¡Qué sorpresa! ¡Un videojuego! No lo tengo. Muchas gracias, Fernando.
Fernando: Hmmm… Y, ¿qué hacemos ahora?
Sr. Cuevas: ¡A bailar todos!
Cuando escuchas. Consider two kinds of language. Notice feelings based on spoken language and body language, such as facial expressions, posture, and gestures. How does Manuel feel about Fernando’s present? How do you know?
